Volume Concierge

You can manually adjust the volume, whenever you need to. But if you turn to Volume Concierge for help, you don’t have to. You see, you can use this application to set up volume rules; and based on the rules you set up, Volume Concierge will automatically adjust the volume. Here’s an example: Volume Concierge can automatically turn the volume down to 10% every day at 4PM.

Click through the instructions presented onscreen by a setup wizard to quickly install Volume Concierge on your Windows PC. Click on the “Customize” button to choose where to install Volume Concierge, pick if you want a desktop shortcut, and choose if you want to launch Volume Concierge after setup finishes and every time you log in.

Click the “Add New Volume Rule” button from the lower left hand side on the application’s interface to add as many rules as you want. Each rule covers the following elements: rule is on or off; the rule will run every day, during work days, or during weekends; the time when the rule will run; the volume level the rule will apply. A “Congratulations” prompt will show up when you successfully run a volume rule and will invite you to share your success on Twitter.

Every work day, I take a break between 12 and 1PM. So I set a volume rule for 12:01; the volume goes down to 20%, which is quite low. When the volume goes down, I know it’s time to take a break. And since the volume is very low, I know the music won’t bother anyone while I’m on break, away from my computer. And by setting up another rule for 1PM, Volume Concierge will automatically turn the volume back up, just when I return from my break.
